Tranquilly positioned on the banks of the Derwent River, it provides opportunities to trout fish or to just amble through the 7 acres of rolling lawns. Enjoy the prospect of sighting the resident duckbilled platypuses, also the many variety of birds, including the swallows from which the building gets it's name.

White gum trees, fruit trees and cottage garden plants of lavender, rosemary, roses etc., embrace the building, allowing for the occasional pause on the verandah to perhaps sample a wine from the local winery.

Standing alongside Swallows Nest, is an artist's studio, purposely and sympathetically built to reflect the lines and flavour of the original building.

A gallery is open to all and tuition in watercolour at material cost only, is available … prior booking notice is requested.
